Beckford Nature Reserve

Management Plans

We have started to form a dynamic management plan for the various habitats within the Reserve, with help from John Clarke from the Kemerton Conservation Trust and others. He has identified 8 habitat areas and suggested maintenance plans for each area. In addition a compilation of all the birds, insects and flora within the site is included with the plan. This plan will be updated as and when more information becomes available.

If you see any addition wildlife while walking around the Reserve, please send it to us via the feedback pages on this site. Eventually, there will be an on-line version the lists accessible from this page.

Beckford Nature Reserve is the location for a local geological Site of Special Scientific Interest. Click here if you wish to find out more about the site - including a map of the reserve.

Wildlife Sightings

Bird Hide

The hide, located on the southern side of the lake, is a perfect place to observe the population of the lake. As a visitor to the hide, you are asked to fill out the log to let others know what they might expect to see on the Reserve. As an example of the log, click here for a look at the log from 2007. The hide is secured by a combination lock - if you wish to use the hide, please contact one of the Nature Reserve trustees for the latest combination number.

200 Club

This popular form of local lottery is now ready to roll. For those of you who may not be familiar with this form of lottery, here is a brief explanation ...

We will be selling 120 numbered tickets for a price of £25 per year. Each month four numbers will be drawn for prizes of £50, £25, £15 and £10. This means that by buying one £25 ticket, you stand a 1 in 30 chance of winning a prize every month. If we find that more than 120 tickets can be sold, then the prize money will be increased accordingly. The name ' 200 Club' comes from the original scheme that sold 200 tickets - we will be starting small and working up to the full amount!

Join the club by buying one of more tickets to enter the monthly draw - your chances will be much higher than the National Lottery or the Premium Bonds. The first draw will be on 2nd October 2007, so get in now by buying a ticket.

The winning tickets numbers will be drawn each month by a member of the public in The Beckford, and winners will receive their prize within the week. Every member of the club (i.e. those who buy at least one ticket) will receive a list of the winners just before the 'renewal date' for membership. The monthly winners will be posted on this website and on a notice in Beckford Stores.
